Double Or Nothing 5 Predictions

Double Or Nothing 5 Predictions

May 26, 2024 0 By Right Hook Ray

Tonight is the milestone show for AEW with Double or Nothing V, which should be a monumental event for the upstart promotion despite their own undoing at times. Regardless, hopefully it is a decent show but here are my predictions for it which I am not giving predictions for the FTW Championship match as well as the Trent vs. Orange Cassidy match because it is embarrassing and just will not give it any of my attention.

AEW Trios Championship

Bang Bang Gang (Jay White and The Gunns) vs. Death Triangle

Winner: Bang Bang Gang retains.

Not much to say for this one a reunited Death Triangle will be nice for the crowd but White and the Gunns will not lose this match.

AEW International Championship

Roderick Strong (champion) vs. Will Ospreay

Winner: Will Ospreay

This will be one of the highlights of the shows, possible match of the night between these two amazing wrestlers but the rise of Ospreay will continue with him defeating Strong and winning the international title going into Wembley this summer with some gold.

IWGP World Heavyweight Championship Eliminator Match

Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita

Winner: Konosuke Takeshita

Do not understand why this is on the card but Takeshita should win this to set up a title match hopefully at Forbidden Door next month hopefully giving Takeshita something finally.

AEW Women’s Championship

Toni Storm (champion) vs. Serena Deeb

Winner: Toni Storm retains.

As much as I want Deeb to win and get a chance with the title, it is a safe bet that Storm wins the match, but a surprise return would certainly spice things up going forward.

TNT Championship Barbed Wire Steel Cage Match

Adam Copeland (champion) vs. Malakai Black

Winner: Malakai Black

Whether he wins the title or close to leaving AEW, Malakai Black should leave double or nothing feeling good about what is ahead for him potentially, Copeland may need a break or something new after this weekend.

TBS Championship

Willow Nightingale (champion) vs. Mercedes Mone

Winner: Mercedes Mone

One of the apparent three main events is this match and the performance in this match will certainly be the dividing line for whether you believe Mercedes Mone can be the face of the women’s division or if she is over her head and that the skeptics may have been right. To put it simply it is put up or shut up time for Mercedes.

AEW World Championship

Swerve Strickland (champion) vs. Christian Cage

Winner: Swerve Strickland retains.

This should headline the show but we all know that will not be the case being another example of how important Strickland’s title is in the grand scheme. Strickland should retain but will be the target of the evil elite potentially plus Christian Cage with his group would be an incredible misfire to be world champion.

Anarchy in the Arena

The Elite (Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry) vs. Team AEW (FTR, Bryan Danielson and Darby Allin)

Winner: The Elite

Again, trying not to be pessimistic but we all know the Elite will come out victorious continuing this “evil” takeover. This match will be what we know to be a chaotic fire of a match that we have seen before, but I will predict that a returning Hangman Adam Page will appear to help his friends in the elite win in the end.

I truly hope this event does not leave fans angry, disgusted, and disappointed adding more fuel to the toxic element that AEW seems to enjoy but hopefully double or nothing will be decent show and be something actually to build on that may have a surprise that brings some viewers and interest back to AEW.
