Summerslam Night 1 Predictions

This year is the first year of the biggest event of the summer happening back-to-back nights. Tonight, MetLife marks the beginning of Summerslam weekend. While there are varied opinions about the card, this event will feature two good nights of matches. Below are predictions for the matches on night one.

Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross

Sami Zayn and Karrion Kross face off again tonight where we may finally see the real Sami Zayn. The match should be good, and I am going to believe Kross’s prediction when it comes to Zayn and wins on a big stage.

Winner: Karrion Kross

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez (Champions) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss

The WWE women’s tag titles will be on the line where Raquel and Roxanne defend the titles against the newly aligned Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. As good as Roxanne Perez will be in this match and should be a showcase performance, I cannot see a universe where Flair and Bliss do not leave Summerslam as the new women’s tag champions and elevate these titles again.

Winner: Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss #AndNew

Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul

The next tag match is the celebrity feature match or part of Summerslam where Jelly Roll teams up Randy Orton to face the ideal pairing of Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul. This match should be fun where McIntyre and Paul lose after a good match where an RKO and Chokeslam seal the victory for Orton and Jelly Roll.

Winner: Randy Orton & Jelly Roll

Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed vs. Jey Uso & Roman Reigns

Night one will certainly provide some tag matches that may seem annoying but at least the three tag matches could be exciting. But Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed face Jey Uso and Roman Reigns in what I think will be a banger match. Although Seth Rollins and the MITB briefcase is sidelined as of this posting, Heyman and the Brons have to try to take out Uso and Reigns for Rollins easy cash in. But Uso and Reigns reuniting will be too much to overcome for the big monsters and I am picking the OTC and Yeet vibes to win and have that stadium absolutely jumping to hopefully start the night off.

WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (Champion) vs. Jade Cargill

Jade Cargill gets her first crack at the women’s championship on a big stage like Summerslam going up against Tiffany Stratton who has had a fine title run. The expectations of this match may not live up to the reality because both women are young, but I would not write this match off as a potential show stealer, as much momentum Cargill has coming into the weekend I don’t think it happens tonight and I’m playing it safe picking Stratton retaining her title.

Winner: Tiffany Stratton

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (Champion) vs. CM Punk

Now for the main event of night one where the Ring General defends his championship in a big match against CM Punk who gets another chance at a championship. This will be the match of the night that will not disappoint us, but the one looming question hangs over this match. Will there be a Seth Rollins cash-in? Yes it has been said that Rollins is injured, but if there is a bait and switch happens at the end of night one with Rollins holding that title that would flip things upside down. With all that being said I am going with the second city saint to finally win and become the new world heavyweight champion.

Winner: CM Punk wins #ANDNEW
