The Return of CM Punk
August 23, 2021As the great Bruce Lee once said, “Simplicity is the key to brilliance” and AEW absolutely nailed that on Friday night with there 2nd episode of AEW Rampage “The First Dance” when the triumph return of CM Punk started the show.
Punk’s return was without question AEW’s biggest moment in the company’s history, as the show starts with a sold-out United Center chanting “CM PUNK” for at least a minute until static and a familiar guitar riff from Living Colour’s Cult of Personality and the place erupts! 7 years away from the business he loved and fans who love and adore him culminating in a pure, emotional moment and reaction where the biggest star and modern history return and is all elite. So, the question is now what is next for the voice of the voiceless?

For starters he has a match set for AEW’s All Out coming up September 5th against fan favorite Darby Allin who he addressed during his promo where he had us all eating out of his hand basically. But the possibilities are endless as far as match ups for Punk, Him versus Kenny Omega, MJF, Adam Page, Cody Rhodes and others can be a positive for Tony Khan and AEW.
Hopefully AEW realizes that they have a huge megastar on their roster who can give the crossover appeal they need, elevate their product to another level and last but probably easiest right now poach some of WWE’s fanbase away especially with the way the WWE isn’t keeping some fan favorite talent and direction the company is going in currently.
As much as I want to gush over one of personal favorite wrestlers this is hopefully the beginning of something beautiful for professional wrestling and the return of one of the greats in CM Punk making his return professional wrestling.
