AEW Double or Nothing 2025 Predictions

AEW Double or Nothing 2025 Predictions

May 25, 2025 0 By Right Hook Ray

Memorial Day weekend is another great weekend for us wrestling fans. There are a couple of big shows tonight, with NXT’s Battleground and AEW’s Double or Nothing. These will take place in Phoenix this year, not the traditional Las Vegas, which slightly threw me off. AEW always gives a jam-packed PPV that can be a bit of a marathon, but here are my predictions for their showcase PPV, which hopefully will have some good matches.

Trios Match: Paragon (Adam Cole, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly vs. The Callis Family (Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita & Josh Alexander

The Undisputed (Excuse me, Paragon) will take on the Callis family in what should be a good 6-man/trios tag match. Josh Alexander recently became all elite, and hopefully, joining Callis and the family will be a much-needed jolt while Paragon continues to get back to its once-high popularity. I don’t know where this will be on the card, but I am going with the Callis family to win the match, and Kyle Fletcher’s rise to the top continues.

Winner: The Callis Family

FTR vs. Nigel McGuinness & Daniel Garcia

Tonight’s show featured the first of two traditional tag team matches, with a new look FTR facing the team of Daniel Garcia and Nigel McGuinness. There is not much to say here. Hopefully, this will lead to a one-on-one match between Nigel and Garcia that could do wonders for Daniel Garcia. However, FTR emerged victorious tonight and will soon get back into the tag title picture.

Winner: FTR

Stretcher Match: Mark Briscoe vs. Ricochet

The next match is one of the two chaotic matches tonight, a stretcher match between Mark Briscoe and Ricochet. While I am not the biggest fan of this, Ricochet seems a little lame and grasping at straws, but I will say this is something, at least in featuring him. I have Mark Briscoe winning the match and putting Ricochet in another funny predicament in the loss.

Winner: Mark Briscoe

AEW Continental Championship: Kazuchika Okada (Champion) vs. Speedball Bailey

Okada defends his AEW Continental Championship against Speedball Mike Bailey in one of the highlight matches for the shows and AEW faithful. Okada’s title reign has been a bit blah for my liking. Since there are no AEW world championship and TNT championship matches tonight, I am going with an upset here, picking Speedball to win the match and become the new Continental champion.

Winner: Speedball Mike Bailey #AndNew

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Sons of Texas( Dustin Rhodes & Sammy Guevara) vs. The Hurt Syndicate (Champions)

The Hurt Syndicate defends the AEW tag titles against the sons of Texas in what will be a good old-fashioned tag team match. Dustin Rhodes in a PPV match is always a bonus we should enjoy while we can, but I don’t see any scenario where they beat Lashley and Benjamin. The Hurt Syndicate will retain the titles with some help from potential new member MJF, which is a vast difference from where he was just last year.

Winner:  The Hurt Syndicate #AndStill

AEW Women’s World Championship: Toni Storm (Championship) vs. Mina Shirakawa

The Timeless One defends her AEW women’s championship against Mina Shirakawa in a potentially good match. Shirakawa is popular with the crowd, which makes this match a little interesting, along with the mystery of whether Mariah May will make an appearance and impact in this match. I have played it safe and picked Toni Storm to retain her title and see who wins the women’s Owen final to be the next challenger.

Winner: Timeless Toni Storm retains

Anarchy in the Arena: Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, The Opps & Willow Nightingale vs. The Elite Death Riders

Now to my least favorite part of Double or Nothing: the anarchy in the arena, where it will be intergender this year. This match is always a long, chaotic, dragging mess that stops the show, especially when everything that could be done has been done in this particular match. But when Jon Moxley, The Young Bucks, and Kenny Omega are involved, then anything is possible.

Swerve Strickland and Samoa Joe bring the wrestling star power to this match, but get lost in the mix, and the addition of Nightingale and Shafir is cautionary at the least. Picking a winner for this probably doesn’t matter. However, I am going with Omega, Swerve, Joe, Hook, and Willow to beat the team that represents the downfall of this company’s potential. Sorry, but the Elite and Death Riders need a serious reset or extended vacation.

Winner: Kenny Omega, Swerve Strickland, The Opps & Willow Nightingale

Women’s Owen Hart Cup Final: Mercedes Mones vs. Jamie Hayter

The Owen Hart Cup finals happen tonight, and I will start with the women’s match between Mercedes Mone and Jamie Hayter. This could be a sneaky show-stealer match as both women can be good in the ring, but the crowd doesn’t want to see Mone, let alone see her continue her dominant reign, just another reminder of how fast things can flip in pro wrestling. Despite the fans’ disapproval, it will only grow after tonight, because I can’t see Mone not win this match, so I picked Mercedes Mone to win this year’s women’s Owen Hart Cup.

Winner: Mercedes Mone

Men’s Owen Hart Cup Final: Will Ospreay vs. Hangman Adam Page

Now, to what I sincerely hope will be the main event of Double or Nothing: the men’s Owen Hart Cup final, as Will Ospreay faces Hangman Adam Page in what should be the match of the night. The match is going to be a “Meltzer Special,” which is absolutely what the AEW fans want to see. At the same time, I don’t mind that match style, just not always.

The winner of this match should solidify their spot as the face of the AEW and the next challenger to dethrone Moxley and become AEW champion this summer. This one was difficult to decide, but I picked Will Ospreay to win the Owen Hart Cup match and be next in line for the AEW world championship.

Winner: Will Ospreay #MatchOfTheNight
