NXT Stand & Deliver Review

Saturday afternoon was NXT’s Stand & Deliver, and the show absolutely delivered. It was starting to feel like the old NXT days again. So, here are my review and match ratings for NXT’s big show.

NXT North American Championship: Ricky Saints vs. Ethan Page

Ricky Saints made his big NXT show debut defending his title against Ethan Page. This was the first of many rough looks for Tony Khan and AEW this weekend, as this match was good and raises the question of why this couldn’t be done in AEW. Regardless, Saints and Page put on an incredible opener match, which seemed to be a theme throughout the weekend on all the shows, with Saints beating Page to retain the title.

NXT Tag Team Championship: Fraxiom vs. Hank & Tank

The tag team match was surprisingly good. Fraxiom is a fast team; I can’t wait to see them on the main roster. Hank and Tank have potential for sure, but having them be the team to defeat Fraxiom is up for debate, and we will see how they, as champions, may revive that tag team division.

Women’s North American Championship Ladder Match

The ladder match for the Women’s North American title was fine despite being a multi-person, wreck kind of match. Thea Hail is such a fan favorite. Izzi Dame and Sol Ruca were the stars of the match. Sol Ruca winning the match and championship, capping off an unbelievable week for her, winning the NXT women’s North American and Speed champion. I wish it were Lola Vice, but Ruca will be a fun champion for NXT.

6-Man Tag Team Match: The Family vs. Darkstate

The six-man tag was to be expected. I’m glad the D’Angelo family is ending with the betrayal at the end. Darkstate is still new, and the group’s wild card could be something in the future, but the focus was on Stacks, the underboss, as he walked away, turning on his family.

NXT Women’s Championship Fatal 4-Way: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Giulia vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Jaida Parker

The four-way match for the NXT women’s title was just another reminder that this is, without a question, the best women’s division in wrestling. All four ladies were incredible throughout the match. Jadia Parker feels ahead of schedule with her performance, Grace seems like she can hang with anyone, and Vaquer with Giulia are top tier. Booker T on commentary was great because he spoke for all red-blooded men in the world in this match (as usual, apologies, I’m the guy who likes attractive women, don’t kill me), but the action in the ring could be considered the best women’s match of the weekend. In the end, Stephanie Vaquer wins and stands tall as champion in the best match on the card.

NXT Championship Triple Threat Match: Oba Femi vs. Trick Williams vs. Je’Von Evans

The main event of Stand & Deliver was just a great showing of Black excellence in pro wrestling, as Oba Femi defended his title against Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans. Femi and Williams just have that thing about that the crowd absolutely loves, then there is Evans who clearly has the potential to be the next guy. This triple threat was really good especially Trick Williams showing off some athleticism that we haven’t seen before, Evans is straight out of a video game with some of the things he did in the match was insane, then there is Oba Femi who is an absolute stud some of the most impressive powerful stuff. Evans and Williams really focused on themselves which costs them both in the end as the Ruler dominates in the end to win the match and stand victorious to end the show.
