King/Queen of the Ring Review

King/Queen of the Ring Review

May 30, 2024 0 By Right Hook Ray

The other review from this past weekend was WWE’s King and Queen of the Ring from Saudi Arabia, which was a solid show that did not have many down points but attempted to set stuff up for the upcoming summer. So, here is what I liked and hated/disliked from the event with my rating for the show.

What I liked

King & Queen of the Ring Winners-   Right away the king and queen of the ring tournament winners was something I liked with Gunther and Nia Jax. Having two dominant king and queen winners should be good setting up big matches at Summerslam in August.

Short & Sweet Card- These short match cards we get from WWE are right for us fans to enjoy. Each match gets respectable time and have some form of a big match feel, as well as highlights the superstars in each match.

Cody vs. Logan- The main event of the show was exceptionally good between Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul which was another solid banger in Rhodes title reign as well as another impressive showing for Paul again doing a lot in the match by doing little just appreciative to see in the current scene.

What I Hated/Disliked

Liv Morgan as champion-  Let me start with I know and understand that Liv Morgan is popular, selling merchandise, and presented as a main event player especially since her return with this revenge tour, but her beating Becky Lynch to become the Women’s world champion is too soon for me.

Obviously the match up they want is Liv vs. Rhea once Ripley comes back from her injury but having Morgan as champion wasn’t really necessary for that to happened, maybe down the road like end of the year but I wouldn’t be surprise if Morgan’s reign ends up a bit underwhelming until Mami returns but will be OK if it’s actually good and interesting.

Chad Gable and the Alpha Academy- Besides Chad Gable not leaving as IC champion but this inevitable break up of Gable from Alpha Academy should of happen Saturday after the match at least. Clearly Gable needs a new group resembling Team Angle with Kurt Angle. Hopefully, Gable finally teams up with the Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile finally forming Team Gable and start their run as group and beat the former Alpha Academy to get things started.

Overall summary and rating of the Show

King and Queen of the Ring was a solid show, WWE stuck with their simple approach to certain PPVs especially the one in Saudi Arabia.  Overall, a good show with some exceptional matches that certainly delivered without doing too much and still had the best of the two shows presented to us this past weekend.

Overall Right Hook Rating: 7 out of 10
