WrestleMania 42 Night 1 Predictions
April 18, 2026WrestleMania 42 is this weekend and there are some mixed feelings going into the weekend but hopefully it will be a good event on both nights. And with that here are my predictions for the night 1 set of matches on Saturday night.
Saturday Match Card
Undisputed WWE Championship Match
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Randy Orton (with Pat McAfee)

Winner-Randy Orton
As much as this could potentially sour the weekend, but I am picking Randy Orton to defeat Cody Rhodes to become the new undisputed WWE champion. Will this be a retread from last year with John Cena? Yes, unfortunately but if McAfee doesn’t have crucial role in the title change then setting up a tag match and not dragging this out or give WCW 2000 vibes this won’t destroy the weekend.

Women’s World Championship Match
Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs. Liv Morgan
Winner- Liv Morgan
This match could be sleeper match on Saturday night. Liv Morgan is clearly going up a level and the machine seems to see it as well. Stephanie Vaquer’s title reign has been limited or underwhelming for a variety of reasons but still is the present and future face of this talented women’s division. As much as I love Vaquer, I am going with what seems to be the safe and obvious choice in Liv Morgan defeating Stephanie Vaquer becoming the new Women’s World champion. Why have a music video for Morgan if there aren’t big things for this revenge/ watch me tour.

Seth Rollins vs. Gunther
Winner-Gunther

Rollins vs. Gunther is going to be a banger which is a given, now where this goes from this weekend is incredibly interesting. Where does Paul Heyman factor in? Especially with the big favor Gunther is going to ask for down the road, either way this has to be another big notch in the Ring General’s belt in defeating top main event guys showing he may be the best in the business.

Women’s Intercontinental Championship Match
AJ Lee (c) vs. Becky Lynch
Winner-Becky Lynch
The Women’s IC is fairly new but needs their version of Randy Savage vs. Ricky Steamboat at Wrestlemania 3 for the IC title caliper match to cement what this title is supposed to mean and represent going forward. Which is why I think this match is the match to potentially do that or what many are hoping it is, AJ Lee hasn’t defended it since winning it at Elimination Chamber as well as both icons have been sort of part-time leading up to this sort of which works for the match. This will be their second one on one match and there has to be a rubber match in this trilogy, so I am picking Becky Lynch by hook or by crook to leave Las Vegas as a multi-time Women’s Intercontinental Champion is this belt’s brief history setting up a big match potentially in the summer.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Fatal 4-Way Match
Nia Jax & Lash Legend (c) vs. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria vs. The Bella Twins
Winner- Bayley & Lyra Valkyria
Not a lot to add here sadly, this will be probably the zone out/ bathroom break match as horrible as this sounds. I have kept hope alive that they will finally make this Women’s tag team titles somewhat meaningful, but it just hasn’t happened yet, All the teams are solid teams and originally, I had the Bellas winning but Nikki Bella’s injury made me pivot to Bayley and Lyra to come out on top here and they can hopefully get this division rolling.

TWO MATCHES FEATURED IN THE FIRST HOUR ON ESPN2
Unsanctioned Match
Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre
Winner-Jacob Fatu

Jacob Fatu and Drew McIntyre in a unsanctioned match is my match of the night pick for Night 1 of Wrestlemania 42! This feud has been awesome and simple so hopefully this match will live up to the hype if not exceed all expectations. McIntyre is main event threat and major player, but Fatu is an undeniable force of nature that now is time to tap into it which is why I have the Samoan Werewolf coming out on top with a victory and perhaps his first of many Wrestlemania moments.. YADADAMEAN!
Six-Man Tag Team Match
Logan Paul, Austin Theory & IShowSpeed vs. The Usos & LA Knight
Winner- The Usos & LA Knight

It’s obvious why this 6-man tag is on ESPN 2 for the first hour of the show, Logan Paul and IShowSpeed social media following will tune in for this match and potentially stick around for more. The remnants of the Vision (Paul & Theory) work together well as the obnoxious heel team add IShowSpeed in the celebrity spot makes some noise, while The Usos with LA Knight will start the night loud with the crowd certainly (Unless Cam’Ron is in the crowd he may not be rooting for Jey Uso after his appearance on Cam’Ron show on Thursday got chippy).
Just wild to think how much change in a year where last year Jey Uso defeated Gunther to become World Heavyweight Champion and going into Saturday in a possibly entertaining 6-man tag match.. unreal. All that said I’m the Usos and LA Knight (YEAH!) to win here and maybe we get a “YEAH!’ “YEET!” combined chant or entrance on Saturday night.
