Wrestlemania 38 Weekend Review
April 10, 2022Wrestlemania 38 last weekend was one of the better showings in recent memory. So, here is my take and review from the most stupendous weekend in Wrestlemania 38.
Day/Night 1
NXT Stand and Deliver- The showing from NXT 2.0 was decent nothing like the old Takeovers but a respectable show. Ciampa’s farewell match with the surprise ending with Triple H coming out to send him off, LA Knight vs. Walter (Sorry cannot say Gunther), the opening ladder match for the North American title and Bron Breakker vs. Dolph Ziggler for the NXT title were the standout or solid matches from the show but no one particularly stood out just a solid show.

Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch- This match was easily match of the weekend for Wrestlemania 38. Bianca Belair vs. Becky Lynch for the RAW women’s title was one of the best women’s matches in history, told a remarkable story, hard hitting and just an absolute delight to watch and lose yourself in. However, in the end Belair redeems her lost from last Summerslam to defeat Big Time Becks conquering another Horsewomen to become the new Raw women’s champion.

The KO Show/Brawl- The ending for night one of Wrestlemania 38 lived up to expectations with the Kevin Owens Show featuring his guest Stone Cold Steve Austin. Now after weeks of speculation of what would happen led to that headlining night one ended up being a no holds barred match. The fight went all over the place, played the hits and Austin put on a performance that there is a chance we get Steve Austin one more time as well as a star making moment for Owens.

Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes- For me, the match of night one and the weekend was the match between Seth Rollins and his mystery opponent which did not disappoint as that opponent was a returning Cody Rhodes which made for a Wrestlemania moment. Rhodes and Rollins put on a hell of a showing that had Rhodes winning and setting up a potentially massive run for Rhodes on his return to the WWE.

Night 2
Austin Theory vs. Pat McAfee- This match was exceptional was one of the better performances from a celebrity (Logan Paul the night before was incredible and has a future in Wrestling) with Pat McAfee again putting on a show stealing performance against young up and comer Austin Theory who lost to McAfee which led to a second match that no one expected with.. VINCE MCMAHON!

Although McAfee lost to McMahon it led to another Wrestlemania moment with Stone Cold Steve Austin coming down and getting Mr. McMahon one more time stunning everyone from Theory to McAfee to Mr. McMahon leaving the crowd happy to see Steve Austin one more time.

Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns Title Unification Match- Billed as the “Biggest match in Wrestlemania history” the match may not have lived up to that billing and probably wasn’t one of their better matches but the end result was a good way to end the weekend with our Tribal Chief Roman Reigns winning and becoming the unified world champion ending the night with Reigns standing tall with Paul Heyman and both championships in his hand.
