2/17 to 2/21/2025 Weekly Review

Monday Night Raw (2/27/2025)
We got our first sign of a potential AJ Styles vs. Bron Breakker match, which was exciting. It could be a show-stealer at Wrestlemania that may bring life back into the Intercontinental championship.

Dakota Kai and Ivy Nile were an okay match, setting up Lyra Valkyria vs. Dakota Kai, where hopefully Kai can win this new Women’s IC title in its first title defense to give Valkyria a boost. On a more positive note, Roxanne Perez, who won the qualifying match to get into the Women’s Chamber, confirmed that big things are ahead for her on Raw.

Gunther roasting the crowd while doing Jey Uso’s entrance was great; Gunther on the mic is underrated, and Jey coming out to stop Gunther from attacking Pat McAfee, leading to a pull-apart, was ok. The lead-up to this match will likely be scrutinized regardless, which is so fickle of some fans, but something unexpected may have to happen to make this interesting.

Lastly, Finn Balor and Seth Rollins were the best TV matches of 2025 so far. These guys never have a bad match. Balor is still a main-event talent who hopefully will get another shot at the title. Still, Rollins’s winning the qualifying match completed the men’s chamber field, which will be very exciting for those who will face Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemania.

NXT (2/18/2025)
We will get to the best part of NXT this week: the arrival of MOOSE from TNA, which we have been waiting for since this TNA & NXT collaboration started. The confrontation with Oba Femi was short and sweet, which was ideal for this potential big match, which would be a great, old-fashioned hoss fight!

ZAIRA and Sol Ruca continue to develop into a formidable tag team that will challenge the Women’s tag titles in the future in an attempt to give those titles some attention.

Then we finally get the official welcome of Ricky Saints? The in-ring promo between him and Ethan Page/Wes Lee was excellent, but the name change from Starks to Saints was puzzling. My immediate reaction was frustration, but I will trust the process and see where this goes because Starks sorry Saints can make this successful.

The six-woman tag match was a good main event. The NXT Women’s division is the best Women’s division out right now, and the visual of Jordynne Grace, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer standing tall is the sign of a new era of Women’s wrestling in WWE, which looks promising.

AEW Dynamite (2/19/2025)
The MJF and Adam Page exchange may be one of the few things that can make AEW enjoyable, but the segment was a bit off, so hopefully things will turn around for this matchup.

The Opps vs. The Patriarchy match was whatever. It’s nice to have Samoa Joe back on TV because he’s a standout guy, especially in AEW.

Ricochet is figuring something out with this heel situation. Granted, the bar is low, but at least there’s an attempt to do something with him. Whether it’s good or not, we must wait and see.

And finally, we get to the match or post-match situation that certainly took over the internet. Megan Bayne and Kris Statlander was a fine match that deserved a better build towards a PPV match, and for most of the male demographic, I say thank you 😂

The post-match mess involving Thunder Rosa, Megan Bayne, and Penelope Ford was cringe-worthy and something AEW Women’s division did not need to have happened because it made the new talent Bayne, Statlander, Thunder Rosa, and Ford all look embarrassing.

Friday Night Smackdown (2/21/2025)
Jimmy Uso has been having some good matches lately, and his match against Drew McIntyre last Friday was another good match. McIntyre, who is on a losing streak going into the chamber, will find it interesting to see whether he wins Saturday or finally goes on a complete rampage.

I don’t know why it took this long to unlock this version of the Street Profits, but it is about time! Leaving the three tag teams annihilated and standing tall hopefully means they will be champions again soon.

The tag match between Jacob Fatu, Solo Sikoa, Damian Priest, and Braun Strowman was decent. Jacob Fatu continues to stand out every week, no matter what. The build to this potential breakup between Jacob and Solo probably feels rushed. Still, it’s Wrestlemania season, so this confrontation needs to happen on a big stage, giving Fatu a potential big moment.

Now we get to the confusing point of the Smackdown (which, please go back to 2 damn hours). Rock announces his appearance on social media, and while his entrance is always surreal, but his recent promos and segments have not.This was another segment that felt way too long. I never thought I would say this, but his in-ring improvisation has not been so good.

All the hidden meanings sounded very Moxley-like, which is not complimenting, especially for the Rock. Finally, Rock and Rhodes were in the ring together, and Rock asked Cody for his soul and to be his champion. Wanting an answer in Toronto at the elimination chamber certainly feels like a potential Mr. McMahon & corporate Rock situation. Let’s see where the final boss and all the riddles take us into Wrestlemania.
