All In 2024 Review

This past Sunday was All In, and it was a typical AEW PPV with some incredibly good stuff mixed with some horrible, but I have to admit it was one of their better efforts. These next couple of weeks are going to be a bit chaotic with a vacation next week and multiple PPVS happening so close, and I decided not to do any weekly reviews this next week or two. Do not worry there will be predictions/reviews for Bash for Berlin this weekend, then All Out and No Mercy predictions for next week to prevent that burnout (laughs). So here is my review for the big event in Wembley, and I will give some right-hook ratings for all the matches.

AEW World Championship Match
The crowd when Final Countdown came on was amazing which in case you have not noticed, I am a sucker for that stuff because that is a part of the pro wrestling experience that is magical. Jim Ross calling the main event is always a great touch. Westside Gunn, Bun B, and DJ Whoo Kid being a part of Swerve’s entrance was cool and certainly gave that hip-hop concert vibe and main event feel, which was perfect.

Swerve stomping Danielson in front of Danielson’s wife and kids was well done, figured this was going to be a marathon of a match and was what I expected which was not a bad thing. Adam Page almost costing Swerve the match was a good sign the rubber match is happening very soon, the ending was very good especially Danielson’s comeback wasn’t too happy with Swerve tapping but was the ideal moment for Danielson with his family finally being AEW world champion while being a solid ending of Strickland’s title reign which was good despite some of the circumstance.

TNT Championship Coffin Match
Man, oh man Tony Khan is desperately trying to make Jack Perry a star and it is not going to happen! Clearly Perry emptying out a bag of broken glass was just pathetic and a lame troll tactic that takes away the show, the “Fuck CM Punk” chants just speak to how insecure the die hard AEW fan base, wrestlers, and leader Tony Khan truly are. CM Punk still lives rent-free in their heads and did not matter because there were “CM Punk” chants anyway! (LAUGHS).

There is not much to say about the match itself. It was another good old-fashioned AEW train wreck chaos match ending flat with Perry standing tall to the mildest reaction. Of course, the elite crew tried to do something that got no reaction, but it was saved when Sting made a surprise return to help Darby Allin. Seek and Destroy will never get old for me.

TBS Championship Match

The Corgis made Mercedes entrance I love dogs and hopefully she used her corgi there. As much as I want to believe that crowd was chanting “CEO” the crowd was not into it, Kamille is the attraction in this match easily. Mone can remind us that she can be good in the ring, but either that crowd was burned out from Ospreay and MJF or they were not into it! 

The match was ok definitely not as bad as I expected, the battling “CEO” “DMD” chants was just pitiful felt like a Collision show when it happened. Britt doing the Eddie Guerrero bit was a good touch, but the finish was flat, and that finisher is not good for Mone. This match did not make the hole deeper for Mercedes Mone’s run up to this point.

AEW American Championship Match

Will Ospreay’s entrance be as exciting as Drew McIntyre’s in Scotland? Plus, I have to tip my cap to Tony Khan with the smart promotion of the new Assassins Creed in the fall, MJF and the all-American thing are great, but they are so over the top and obnoxious.

As great as MJF and Will Ospreay are, I wish they did not do some crazy/risky stuff in matches because they do not need it to make their match any better! That reaction for Daniel Garcia is the loudest he may ever get; Ospreay finally using the Tiger Driver to win the match was well done, it was a great match that absolutely delivered.

The Casino Gauntlet Match

The casino gauntlet match was the match I had sheer excitement for. Nigel McGuiness’s surprise return was excellent, with some fun moments for him certainly has my hopes up for a potential in ring return. Zack Sabre Jr was another fun surprise, and man, he is so smooth and crisp in the ring. Orange Cassidy did not belong in this match and took away from it sorry he is just detrimental to anything he is involved in, while Okada was not that bad here also.

Ricochet is All Elite and got a great reaction at Wembley. Hopefully, he does not fall into the same failure’s   others have with how they are presented. It is sad to see him leave WWE, but I cannot ignore how AEW may be the better fit for Ricochet to be a main-event player. Overall, it was another multi-person match with an anti-climactic ending, with Christian Cage winning thanks to Luchasarus, who had been done to death and killed the crowd’s energy.

AEW Women’s Championship Match

Toni Storm vs. Mariah May was actually good, May definitely impressed me in the ring really good stuff. The match had some of the goofy stuff sadly but didn’t take away that much from the match, May wins the match but hopefully this means Storm goes away for a bit and maybe puts the Timeless stuff on the shelf for a little to make some adjustments and not go more over the top where it becomes a joke.

AEW Tag Team & Trios Championship Matches

Both multi team titles matches for the tag and trios’ championships were total train wreck matches that honestly could of either been on the kickoff or not on the card.  The Acclaimed still have fans with the entrance in London anyway, Gibson and Drake challenging the Bucks post-match then attacking FTR was the highlight of the tag match.

RHR Ratings: 3/10 for both matches

Some Show Observations

• The UK crowd loves wrestling regardless of which promotion and was into most of the show.

• I will admit that as long as this show felt, they did not waste much time getting to the matches. I am sure it is the same length as WWE PPV/PLEs, but it feels and seems twice as long because every game does not need to be 15 or 20 minutes.

• The commentary team throughout the show was a turnoff. I am sorry Tony Schiavone and Excalibur cannot be on the same commentary team. The main event with FOUR people on commentary was too much. Schiavone should have sat that one out and let Tazz, JR, and even Excalibur do it.
