Thank you, Bray Wyatt
August 26, 2023This one hit me pretty hard, and I still don’t completely believe it is real, but the passing of Windham Rotunda aka Bray Wyatt truthfully hurts because as a massive fan who wanted him back and was excited for what was next and to know that will not happen sucks. I was going to do All In predictions but instead doing these letters and this is my letter to Bray Wyatt and I’m sure this be considered overly emotional or as this new generation says “Extra” or “In my feelings” but the wrestling fan I am is hurting and know no other way but to do this.

Dear Bray, as a wrestling fan I am at complete loss with this tragic news because it’s not fair and we as fans were excited for what was next with you. Your words, emotions, and passion that was expressed on TV hit me in a way that told me “You’re not alone” and invigorated that childlike love and passion for wrestling again with your uniqueness. The fact that the debut of the Wyatt Family was on my birthday in 2013 after all the videos saying you guys were coming was a different kind of excitement.

I know this term has been used probably too much but that first promo on raw was a way I felt but couldn’t come close to verbalizing like you and that concept was one of the best things I have seen in wrestling for quite a while probably since Raven ECW and Jake the Snake Roberts in WWF those kinds of people I gravitated to and was so engaged. Some of the promos and lines you said absolutely stuck with me from the Miss Teacher promo to the line of “I am the color red in a world full of black and white” and so many others felt like I was not alone in those thoughts and emotions but that it was ok to be as passionate as was about pro wrestling thanks to you.

Even the down moments of the journey there was always hope that better days were ahead and when you were released a part of that fandom went away and came to peace with the possibility that you wouldn’t come back then last summer/fall happened and that amazing return in Philadelphia with that genuine emotion, reaction, and excitement that crowd had when they heard your voice brought tears to my eyes because I thought it wouldn’t happen and reminded me to never say never.

This may be long winded but I just wanted to say thank you for years of realness, passion, emotion and words you gave us, thank you for your uniqueness you gave this thing we love that is professional wrestling, thank you for the creativity that was appreciated by us, and lastly thank you for being the light that shined in our darkness in a confusing world. From this particular firefly I am glad we saved your life but actually you saved our lives and provide us the hope we all seek in life that only a man with the whole world in his hands can do. Because like you said professional wrestling is an excuse to be a kid again and that this is not a love story it’s about hope, Yowie wowie rest easy my man.
